Here are my top ten favorite books.  The list is subject to change upon further reflection and more reading but as I think about it today, these are some of my favorites.

Books are listed in no particular order.

The Prince
Niccolo Machiavelli; Paperback (September 1, 1984)
I re-read this short text often and believe that Machiavelli was an incredibly practical and intelligent problem solver.  He understood how to effectively consolidate and wield power in the hostile environment of his day and clearly describes methods for doing so.
A Confederacy of Dunces
John Kennedy Toole; Hardcover (January 1995)
This is the comic masterpiece of the 20th century.  I received it as a parting gift from a friend in NJ when I relocated to San Francisco.  It builds, and builds, until you believe you may roll out of your seat in laughter.  A MUST READ.
The Stranger
Albert Camus; paperback (March 1989)
Was given this short book by an acquaintance at a party in Red Bank, NJ in 1990-1991.  Can't even remember his name now but I would definitely thank him today.  A existentialist classic.  Incredibly well written so that the reader has an extraordinary detailed picture of the main character, Mersault.

Tarry Flynn
Patrick Kavanagh; (first published by the Pilot Press 1948)
"Any man who wrote Tarry Flynn is entitled to throw down his hat and offer a challenge to the wide world.  Tarry Flynn is a work of art." - Irish Times

Thriving on Chaos: Handbook for a Management Revolution
Tom Peters; paperback (May 1991)
This book was on the Northeastern University MBA program recommended reading list for the summer before I started in fall 1994.  I read it cover to cover and it was incredibly inspiring.
The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement
Eliyahu Goldratt; paperback (2nd edition 1992)
Recommended to me by the president of Gamma One when I was working there in 1993.  A simply incredible business book for many reasons.  Enables the reader to see a business as a system, doesn't provide solutions but provides a framework for thought (more valuable), and finally... this book blends business book and novel wonderfully so that is a very enjoyable read.

Where The Suckers Moon: The Life and Death of an Advertising Campaign
Randall Rothenberg; paperback (November 1995)
Given to me by Michael Tchao, former VP of Customer Experience at move.com.  Excellent read.  Funny and accurate.  The most realistic and entertaining look at an ad agency and agency-client interaction that I have ever seen.
The Importance of Being Earnest
Oscar Wilde (mass market paperback - January 1976)
Customers.com: How to Create A Profitable Business Strategy for the Internet...
Patricia B. Seybold, Ronni Marshak(Contributor); Hardcover (November 15, 1998)

How to Win Friends & Influence People
Dale Carnegie; mass market paperback (January 1994)
