Iris decora
Iris decora. synonym: I. nepalensis. Native to the Himalayas: Nepal, Sikkim, Buthan, and southwest China.

Iris ensata spontanea
Iris ensata spontanea. synonym: I. kaempferi. This is a wild form of the Japanese iris. It is native to Japan, Korea, China, and parts of Siberia.

Iris foetidissima, blue
Iris foetidissima. Native to Europe and north Africa.

Iris foetidissima seeds
Iris foeditissima is distiguished by is orange seeds that remain in the seed pod after it splits open.

Iris fulva
Iris fulva. This is one of the ancestors of the Louisiana hybrids. It is native to the southern United States and the Mississiipppi valley.

Iris laevigata, purple
Iris laevigata. This is a relative of the I. ensata. It is native to eastern Siberia with its range extending into China, Korea, and Japan. This purple form bloomed profusely in the spring of 1999 and had another blossom stalk in the fall, as photographed here.

Iris longipetala, Marin County
Iris longipetala, synonym: I. missouriensis longipetala. This is a California native, but it is classified in a different taxonmic series from the Pacific coast iris.

Iris missouriensis
Iris missouriensis. Native to the western United States.

Iris prismatica
Iris prismatica. Native to the eastern United States.

Iris pseudocorus
Iris pseudocorus. It is native to Europe with its range extending into Asia and northern Africa. It has been naturalized in many parts of the world.

Iris unguicularis
Iris unguicularis. Native to the northern Africa, the Middle East, and south-east Europe. It is known as the winter iris because it blooms during the winter rainy season.

Iris versicolor
Iris versicolor. Native to southeastern Canada and northeastern United States.
