Joe's Power Box

[This is W6JOE's description of a battery box installation for an HF Mobile rig, which followed a number of messages on the subject on the Mobile - Portable mailing list.]

This is the back of the 4Runner with the tailgate open. The box normally sits in this position. You can tell that there is a fan and switch to the right of the red center latch and a meter to the left of the latch. You can see the big red jumper cables coming in from the left if you look closely. You can also see the bright yellow ratchet-style nylon strap which holds the box down. Out the right side of the box are the control, speaker and coax cables for the FT8100R which are small and black and I can't see at all in this photo.

This is the box pulled out on the tailgate and the lid opened up so that we can take a look inside. The two Marine Deep Cycle batteries are to the left, held down to the false plywood bottom with a blue nylon tie-down strap. To the right, you can see the vertical plywood partition that I will use to mount the radios to/on. On the far right of the plywood partition is the FT8100R mounted in position. The radio is small in the box... It is a big box. I'm hoping to mount the new ICOM on the other side of the plywood partition. The fan exhausts all the heat and gasses.

I'd love someone to post this to a web address and then let the Mobile list/group know where to point their browsers.

Best Regards,
W6JOE
