Coyote Hills Regional Park

 

This park offers scenic vistas of the San Francisco Bay and southern Alameda County.  Marshlands and a climb up Red Hill are accessible via a boardwalk that leads to a network of foot and bicycle trails. There is water and facilities at the visitor center.

Bicyclists can take the 3.53 miles of the Bay View Trail that connects with 12 additional miles of trail along the south levee of the Alameda Creek Trail, and to the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. 

West along the flood levy to Coyote Hills Park and back, is a 26.2-mile loop that is perfect for long run or easy bike workout.  The paved bike trail provides a flat, brisk, ride from suburbia out to nature.  Enjoy the view and birds on the marsh while climbing the one hill.

Start at the Fremont Bart Station.
North on Walnut Street.
Left on Mission Blvd.
Left at the Alameda County Flood Control Channel. (Alameda Creek Trail)
Follow Channel Levy left to Coyote Hills Regional Park.  Go around the park and return.
Backtrack to Fremont Bart.

Directions:  Take 880 north from San Jose and exit on Mowery.  Go east about 1.5 miles and you'll see the BART station.  Park on the north side.
