This park consists of five short trails totaling about 8M. The most scenic is the Ridgeview Loop, which is about 800 feet in elevation. The other trails are primarily grasslands, which are quite spectacular with wildflowers in the spring. The Edgewood Trail is not well maintained near the road, you may be running through weeds with long stickers.
Best times to go is before 9AM, if the weather is hot. You will pretty much have the trails to yourself. Later in the weekend mornings, there are hikers, which makes it hard to run uninterrupted because the trails are narrow.
Runner's World magazine featured this trail on a list of great trail runs, but there are others along the Peninsula trails that offer more distance, challenge and scenery. Please see the Sawyer Camp and Huddart Park files for nearby trail options.
This general area offers many excellent bike routes, so you could also get in a brick workout, too. On Bicycle Sunday, Cañada Road is closed to vehicular traffic. The road has been repaved and is relatively flat, making it an excellent interval training course. Park your car near Edgewood and Cañada Roads. (A ranger is usually there.) Secure your bike, then run approximately 1.2M on the dirt trail alongside Edgewood Road to the park.
Facilities: Restrooms and a drinking fountain at the park entrance.Tips:
