Nutrition and diet

Lots of Stoker bars, I love them. High carbohydrates, no butter, no red meat, very few eggs.

Equipment /gear philosophy

Fairly basic-aero bars and good wheels, (Spinergys) are very important on the bike, but it really comes down to the rider!

Goals

High goal: World Champion and National Champion

Short-1 year: Try to get some financial sponsorship

Mid-1-3 years: May take 1997 off racing and come back at age 40

Long-term: World Champ 40-44

Continue to enjoy training and racing

Olympic Trials??

Who inspires you, or what motivates you?

Older athletes like Missy LeStrange and Jo Garuccio, Dave Scott, who continues to improve into their 40's. If they can do it, I feel I still have room for improvement. Training for triathlons is a lifestyle. It feels great to be fit and even if I weren't racing, I'd continue to exercise. I've met some great people, and been to some neat places.

Karen and her husband, Jeff sat near me on the flight home from the World Championship in Cancun. Karen had pulled a muscle running from the swim to the transition area. She still managed to come in 2nd place! She has so many accomplishments that I was afraid it would take up all the storage on my Webpage!

If you would like to contact Karen for swimming instruction, call the Airport Club Masters (707) 528-2582.

Tri Home.
