San Francisco Bay Swimming Association (SFBSA)

2001 Update:

Just a short notice to inform everyone that the December 9th, 2000 swim in Pillar Point Harbor, Half Moon Bay, will be the last monthly open water swimming workout that I conduct on behalf of SFBSA.  After 4 years, I simply need a break & have therefore decided to take 2001 off.

Although SFBSA won't be hosting its monthly swim, I will be keeping the SFBSA club alive & registered with PMS for 2001.

I've enjoyed seeing the progress that a number of you have made in your open water swimming abilities which was the whole purpose to begin with.

For those of who need your monthly fix, I've got one of two suggestions:  1) join the South End Rowing Club which several of you have done - they have an outstanding year-long series of open water swims as well as the infamous Sunrisers - a wild, unruly bunch of swimmers who swim in the Bay every morning at 6:30 a.m. rain or shine, light or dark, 8 days a week, 32 days a month & 375 days a year or 2) if anyone wants to step up and conduct the monthly swims, I'll be more than happy to lend you the kayak and provide you with the mailing / email lists.

I hope that you can come out to Pillar Point for this last SFBSA swim - there will not be any charge and I've arranged for a total of 3 kayakers to be in the water so I'm hoping that more than just one of you comes on out.  If you do, I'll see you there.  If you don't, thanks for coming out in the past & I'm sure I'll see you around at the races in 2001.

Thanks for your past patronage & understanding.

Gary

Also, all participants must be members of U.S. Masters Swimming. The annual membership fee is $25.00, which includes a subscription to SWIM Magazine; participation in all USMS sanctioned events, and secondary accident and liability insurance.
