Recommended Rides
If you are looking for some suggestions, here are a few rides to consider:
Beginner/Family/Kids
- Los Gatos Creek: Paved, pretty flat, easy access, food and ice cream nearby
- Wilder: Old Cove Landing and Ohlone Bluff trails overlook the ocean
- Harvey Bear: Calaveras and Valley Oak trails parallel to the lake
- Nisene Marks: Aptos Fire Road up to the first narrow bridge through the redwood forest
- Sawyer Camp: Whole trail. Easy and paved.
- St. Josephs: A bit of climbing, start in downtown
- Big Basin: Gazos Creek to Sand Point and back. A bit more challenging than the others.
Short but Fun
- Waterdog: Your choice of trails in a very compact park
- Fremont Older: Mix of trails very close to homes and jobs
- Saratoga Gap: Saratoga Gap to the Christmas Tree farm but a bit farther out.
- Santa Teresa: Ride to top, down Rocky Ridge. Repeat. Finish off with a dose of Stiles Ranch.
Classic
- El Corte de Madera Creek: Lots of nice trails with plenty of climbing. Something for everyone.
- Soquel Demo Forest: Great rides down through the redwood forest...guaranteed to bring a smile
- Pogonip/Wilder: Start in Pogonip and combine trails in both areas. Mmm...tasty!
- Flume: Classic Tahoe ride. You have to bring a camera for the mandatory pictures.
Epic
- Coe: See if you can take what Coe has to dish out. I am betting on Coe (and I haven't lost yet).
- Tuolumne River: Down Lumsden Road, then a steep climb out. You are on your own here.
