What Is Detour 888?

Liz Cohen, Tuesday September 11th at 9:00PM

Liz Cohen received her MFA from CCAC in 2000. She recently had a solo show, CANAL, at the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery and has been in several group shows in the Bay area. She is an Affiliate Artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts and will be a Resident Artist at the MacDowell Colony this winter. Liz uses photography, performance and installation in an effort to blur the distinction between documentary, performance and real life. In her latest work she compares her life as a first generation latina to the life of two Panamanians: a transgender prostitute and her grandmother, an immigrant. She explores the ways in which they all betray and prostitute themselves to get what they want.
