What Is Detour 888?

Born in Cedar Rapids Iowa, Manisha spent some time in Pennsylvania and Michigan before settling in California. After receiving a B.A. from California State University, Long Beach, Manisha moved to San Francisco to pursue something else. Manisha worked in the publishing and internet industries for six years before returning to artmaking, earning a Post Baccalaurette Certificate from San Francisco Art Institute.

Manisha's work deals with the immateriality of the material. Ideas about the nature of reality form the basis of the work. These ideas are derived from Eastern cosmology as well as quantum physics and scientific cosmology. The work uses a simple vocabulary, color, a flower and the mark, to convey these complex ideas.
