What Is Detour 888?

Organized Labor

Curated by Margaret Howe, Manisha Patel, and Ryan Taber

Detour888 begins its second series entitled "Organized Labor". The work being presented is by artists who work across a variety of media: painting, printmaking, installation, and photography. Work in this series highlights the role that the hand of an artist plays and the commitment to labor while following the creation of a system of work, devised by the mind.

The work eschews nostalgia, however, it does call into question the nature of our contemporary, fast-paced, lives and the mass-produced objects they contain.

The exhibit will feature work by Vibrata Chromodoris, Margaret Howe, Manisha Patel, Amy Rathbone, Patrick Rock, Cristina Sitja Rubio, Ryan Taber, Trevor Tubelle and Cheyenne Weaver.

This series is curated by various artists associated with the Detour888 space. The schedule is as follows:

Vibrata Chromodoris and Manisha Patel Tuesday, October 2nd, 9:00PM

Cristina Sitja Rubio and Trevor Tubelle Tuesday, October 9th, 9:00PM

Margaret Howe and Amy Rathbone Tuesday, October 16th, 9:00PM

Ryan Taber and Cheyenne Weaver Tuesday, October 23rd, 9:00PM

Patrick Rock Tuesday, October 30th, 9:00PM
