HEADLINER LUNCHEON

"The Continental Divide"

Be sure to come to the Convention Headliner Luncheon on Friday noon, the 16th. The cost is $35 for Leaguers and $40 for others. Make your reservation before the deadline of May 5th.

We have a knock-out speaker and topic, of interest to political junkies and those who want to know how to get young people out to vote. In addition the food will be different and delicious. The Executive Chef and we promise a tasty, "not your run-of-the-mill" luncheon, with a delicious dessert.

Every Leaguer should plan to hear dynamic Prof. Susan Rasky of UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, talk about the project she has headed up this year. Groups of her students were sent to New Hampshire, Iowa, Alabama, Louisiana, North Dakota, Idaho, lesser known parts of California, and other locations to find out why younger voters, 21 to 36, did or didn’t vote in the last local and Presidential elections. Also they surveyed voters over 50 to assess why they vote. The differences uncovered will be known in this talk as "The Continental Divide". We’ll also hear about the significant differences that occur in campaign strategy and voters between the East coast and the West coast in a Presidential election, and quite a bit more.

Prof. Rasky promises her information will be unsettling and unexpected, and will definitely provoke more questions than there will be time to answer in the Q & A. There’ll be plenty of idea-sparking and food for thought at this luncheon.

Look forward to seeing you there!
