Living South of the Slot

The dot-coms didn't change everything South of Market, and when they left they didn't take everyone with them. Plenty of folks are still around: the garment sweatshops, the detox, the shelters, most of the clubs, the BrainWash Cafe Laundromat. Some of our neighbors got evicted in the land rush, but quite a few managed to stay.

More on South of Market from some interesting folks at SF State. This site has great links but it's badly out of date. For example, it still lists the Twenty Tank Brewery, which was evicted a few years ago when SoMa evictions were in fashion. Twenty Tank's building has been sitting empty ever since.
