Housetraining

Two rules for housetraining.  1.) Obtain a strong reward history in the desired location. 2.) Manage with crate, tie down, umbilical cords, so as to minimize attempts indoors.  Dogs need to discriminate between indoors and outdoors.   It helps to put the defecating and urinating behavior on cue.  Other things to help with house training, go out the same door each time, and before you open the door, ask your dog “Do you wanna go out?” and then open the door.  You can also put a bell on the door at your dogs level and everytime you go to the door, ring the bell and then open the door.  Eventually your dog will ring the bell, ever so slightly at first and then louder.  If you hear the bell, get up and let your dog outside.
