 III. Essay. Please attach an essay of 500-1,000 words.  It must be typewritten and double-spaced. Please choose one of the following topics to write about:  

  1. What the UN Means to Me.
  2. If you were the UN Secretary General, what aspect(s) of UN Reform would you find most crucial to act upon in your first year, and why?
  3. Which one of the UN MDG’s do you think is most important, and why? (If you submitted an essay for the UNA-USA Essay contest, please pick a different MDG to discuss.)

V. Submission Process.  Submit this form, together with your description of MUN involvement, essay, high school transcript, two letters of recommendation (one from your MUN Advisor), and proof of acceptance to a four-year college or university* postmarked by May 2 to The Annette I. Baughman Scholarship Committee, United Nations Association-San Diego, UN Building, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA 92101-1645. Finalists will be invited to an interview at the UN building. Notification of awards will be made by June 1.  All components of the application will be weighed equally.
