The accomplished Johannes Wilder leads the excellent CSR Symphony Orchestra in this charming program of dance music from Johann Strauss, Jr’s inextinguishable fount of melodic invention.

From the Can-Can-like zest of “Alexander Quadrille” through the majestic “Jubelfest March” and the grand “Wahlstimmen” and ending with the undulating lyricism of the elegant “Kaiser-Jubilau”, these lesser-known works are performed with finesse and scintillating orchestral shading.

Peter Kemp has written the excellent program notes. The sound is warm and expansive. A lovely addition to any waltz lover’s music collection.
