Nicki is our pet kitty. She is black with touches of orange and white
(tortoise shell),
and her eyes are honey yellow. Her mother was black (like Nicki) and her
father an orange tabby. We got her as a one-month old kitten from a friend
in June 1998.
Nicki is a sweet and friendly cat. She loves people, especially children.
She loves to be hugged and patted. She is playful and curious. She will
crawl into bags and boxes and just sit. She will hide under blankets.
She will even climb to the top of an eight-foot ladder to inspect daddy's
work.
The funny thing about Nicki is that she prefers our dinner scraps over
her wet cat food. She'll sit by the dinner table begging like a dog for
some food, anything! She also prefers to eat the dry cat food rather than
that wet stuff.
Once she climbed up a neighbors' tree and could not come down without our
help. It didn't help to have the neighbors' dog barking at the base of the
tree. We helped her down by holding a long wood board up to the branch so
that she could walk the plank down to the safety of our yard. She has eight
lives to go.
