Robert Sherman Mosier was a native of Scottsburg, Indiana, born on November 9, 1934, to
Homer Densil, Sr., and Sallie Beatrice Mosier. He attended school in Austin, Indiana.
On November 11, 1953, Robert enlisted into the Air Force and was trained at the Sampson
Air Force Base, New York. His duties sent him to Alaska, Biggs Air Force Base at El Paso,
Texas, and White Sands, New Mexico.
In 1964, he enlisted into the Army at Louisville, Kentucky, and left for Vietnam on
May 19, 1964. He worked as a parts and supply specialist for the 140th Transportation
Detachment. While staying at the Kach San Viet Cuong (the Hotel Viet Cuong) in Qui Nhon
in December 1964 and January 1965, he took pictures of the village and surrounding area,
which he had sent to his mother. On February 10, 1965, the Viet Cong bombed the hotel,
which was being used as a barracks by the U.S. Army in Qui Nhon.
Robert's remains were returned to the United States. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
The funeral service was given by Rev. Sterrett at the Penn Reen Church, Louisville, Kentucky.
He was interred at the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky.
