Regular 8mm
Movie Film Primer

Hw to make titles...

Both color and black-and-white 8mm movie films are still available as of 2004. Film stocks are reversal films which become direct positives through processing.

Eight millimeter movie film is 25 ft. long and 16mm wide in its original form. The film is exposed twice, once on each side. After processing, the film is split in half to produce an 8mm projection film which is 8mm wide and 50 ft. long.

The infamous JFK moment was captured on this camera.

A word of caution: although the original width is 16mm, 16mm movie film cannot be used in your 8mm camera. This is because 8mm movie film requires twice as many perforations as 16mm film. However, regular 8mm film can be used in 16mm movie cameras.

When inserting or removing film, select as dark a place as possible. Avoid direct sunlight under all circumstances. Outdoors, shade the camera with your body if no other shade is available.

Regular 8mm movie film can be double exposed if so desired. Due to its lack ot a cartridge or other housing, many effects can be achieved in regular 8mm film that are not possible in super 8mm film.
