Colorado 1998

Again a great adventure with all types of scenery. First stop was the Grand Canyon! Then on through Indian reservations near the edge of Monument valley then to Mesa Verde National Park for the night. I spent a day checking out how the Anasazi Indians lived including a tour of the Balcony house. I learned about construction, kivas, ceremonies and the farming they did. The region was quite breathtaking. Then I headed north through Ouray and Silverton, very beautiful areas, and on to the Rocky Mountain National Park. I took a drive-through tour and it was very cold and so the splendor of it was limited to how long one could endure the biting cold and ferocious winds. On the far side (east) it was calmer and the walk around the lake was lovely.

Once at the Old Glendevey Ranch Brigitta and I were treated like royalty. There was entertainment, great food, and good horses. The accommodations were comfortable, and the tents were more like hotel rooms! We saw some great scenery, and lots of Elk, like 70-80 in one heard. There were moose visiting the camp each morning and the horses grazed loose in the meadow, just the way nature intended. I had the opportunity to try my hand at fly fishing, in less than 3 minutes I caught a beautiful "Brookie". The last day we were treated to a great ride that hit 12,000 ft. and the horses were on snow!( The pictures below are from the riding trips. I will try to get some more.) The weather could not have been better! It was a most fantastic way to spend 3 days with my best friend, Brigitta. She came all the way from Germany to go on this trip. We were both sad to leave this beautiful place.
