DAVID RUBINSTEIN BIO

David Rubinstein lives in Los Angeles, where he combines composing and performance. In addition to scoring for film and theater, he has composed for orchestra, voice, chamber ensemble and piano. He has been active in the Los Angeles area as a performer of his own works as well as the classical repertoire, and his music has been presented by Pacific Composers Forum, National Association of Composers USA (NACUSA), and Pacific Contemporary Music Center, among others. Awards include the Recognition of Excellence at the Diana Barnhart American Song Composers Competition and the Ojai Festival/Gould Foundation Award. David's music has been performed by the North Wind Quintet, Calico Winds and Duo Trouveres, which gave the world premiere of his Serenade for Flute and Guitar. Quintessential Steps,for solo guitar, was published in 2001 by Columbia Music Company, and his latest work, Toccata, was commissioned for the Renee B. Fisher 2003 Piano Competition. His piano music will be featured on the Avian Music series in New York City in January 2004.
