The Great Wall

I had the choice of going to either the Great Wall or the Forbidden City. I went to the Forbidden City in '98, but I hadn't seen the Great Wall since '91, so I chose that, mostly to see how it had changed. My god.

There's now a big complex with hotels, restaurants, and lots of souvenir stalls.

There's a tram going up the other side.



T-shirt? Silk scarf?

Vendors hassle you as you walk along.

The Wall itself is crawling with tourists.

An yet it's a remarkable place.
