Breeders' Cup Classic Contenders

ALBERT THE GREAT ran a career best in the Jockey Club Gold Cup, earning a 119 Beyer figure. A 3 year old colt by GO FOR GIN, he personally reminds me of PRECISIONIST, a colt who had tremendous speed as well as stamina. In the Jerome Handicap in September, he dueled with HOOK AND LADDER on the front end and still ran a respectable third to FUSAICHI PEGASUS. He'll be winging on the front end once again and might prove hard to collar.

GANDER came alive in his last 2 starts to run respectable races in the Woodward Stakes and Jockey Club Gold Cup. A New York bred gelding by CORMORANT, he outran his odds on both occasions under new jock John Velazquez. He'll have to step it up even more on Breeders' Cup Day.

GUIDED TOUR should draw into the race with NORTH EAST BOUND expected to run in the Mile. Last out in the Hawthorne Gold Cup Handicap, he ran second to DUST ON THE BOTTLE and had his personal 4 race win streak snapped. He'll be a longshot in this spot.

TIZNOW was supplemented into the race and is a legitimate contender. Winner of 4-of-8 starts, he won the 10 furlong Super Derby in September as well as the Goodwood Breeders' Cup Handicap last out while defeating older horses. A horse with a lot of early speed, he's demonstrated an ability to rate and doesn't necessarily need the lead to win. He's a California bred colt by CEE'S TIZZY and he's at the top of his game as well.
