Links to Other Seahorse Sites

This is a collection of links that I have found useful in my quest to learn more about Seahorses.  I hope you find them useful also! Don't forget to tell them that I sent you!

I really want to stress the importance of preparing a proper home for your Dwarf Seahorses before you actually get them.  It is a horrible thing to order Dwarf Seahorses and put them in a bowl or some other ill prepared habitat and expect them to live and be healthy.  It is also a bad idea to put a lot of other fish or crabs into the Dwarf habitat.  Seahorses do best in a species tank setup just for them.  I only have snails and gammerus in my Dwarf Seahorse tanks.  If you truly love these little animals then you will educate yourself first before taking the next step and then prepare your aquarium well.  Only after you are sure that the Aquarium is stable through testing of the Ammonia, Nitrates, Nitrites, Salinity, and PH will you proceed to order or collect your Dwarf Seahorses.  Please don't be irresponsible and selfish when you start your new Dwarf Seahorse hobby!  They are counting on you.

Dwarf Seahorse Suppliers:

Aqualand Pet Center - I have had success with ordering dwarfs from them in the past but their recommendations of small bowls and mini-tanks for keeping the dwarfs is really a bad suggestions in my opinion.  I wouldn't even think about setting up Dwarfs in that type of habitat. Also, they offer various hermit crabs, starfish, and  ghost shrimp.  I would never have those in with my Dwarf seahorses either!  Hermit crabs will eat your Dwarfs and baby Dwarfs if they catch them.  Shrimp and starfish are the same.

The Florida Collector - I have never ordered from these guys but they look like they have a good selection.

Fish to the Nth - This is the website for Carol Keen. She is a very active participant on the Ultimate Seahorse Yahoo group and is a very knowledgeable lady.

Macro Algae, gammerus, and brine shrimp suppliers:

Florida Aqua Farms - Used by the aquaculture industry.  They are very professional and have great items.  This is where I ordered my Caulerpa Prolifera Macro Algae and my LIVE AMPHIPODS (Grammarus) cultures.  For the Grammarus follow the Starter Cultures & Amphipods link  Tell them that I sent you!

Brine Shrimp Direct - Great source for high quality San Francisco brine shrimp.  I use the 8 ounce bag and it lasts for months in the refrigerator.  Tell them that I sent you!

Aquaculture Supply - Another great aquaculture supply house.
