Class Descriptions

All classes offer "asana" or movement practice, "pranayama" or breathing exercise, and a meditative experience.

Beginning - Students who are new to yoga, those who have some yoga experience but who are new to the studio, or persons who wish to focus on the basics, all will enjoy this class.

Beginning to Continuing - This AM class is more rigorous than a Beginning class. It is slotted in a time after the Free Introduction.

Continuing - Students who have attended several Beginning classes, up to students with long time experience will find these classes challenging & educational.

Friday Evening Free Class
Provides an introduction to the Astanga Yoga method. Everyone is welcome, please bring a friend!

 

Student Participation In Classes

Astanga Yoga is a specific yoga form brought to the U.S. by Master Teacher K. Pattabhi Jois. In order to understand the technique of the practices and to minimize injury, it is necessary to start at the Beginning level. Those students who are new to the studio, even with prior yoga experience, are requested to attend a Beginning class or the Free Introductory Class. Once a student has shown proper understanding, then any class is available. Beginners are encouraged to progress to Continuing levels after several Beginning classes, as appropriate for the individual. If you have a question please phone 619-294-7792 or
