DISCLAIMER: I am sorry that I have to put this disclaimer up, however I recently got an EMAIL saying that someone that purchased a pup from a breeder and was not please with what he received. It did not work out for either the buyer or seller. I will not mention names but I will say it was not one of my dogs. I list these names of breeders here as a favor to the breeders and hopefully to future owners of the Patterdale breed. I cannot guarantee what other breeders provide, but that they breed and sell Patterdale pups. It is important to know and set the right expectations for a dog. Some dogs are very hard and some are not so hard. Hard is defined as a dog that will go in and grab the game and hold on no matter what the consequence. Sometimes that is not the best thing for the dog, sometimes it is. A very hard dog can get more damaged then should be necessary. As I have said in my articles in Full Cry Magazine there are different dogs for different needs. Sometimes you need a real hard dog, other times you need a smart dog that can move the game so you can get to it or kill it if necessary. You need to decide what type of hunting you are going to do. I can tell you that my dogs will hunt! That does not mean that every dog will be a hard, hard dog that goes blindly in to kill the game should they confront it. They will locate, bay and bite/grab, and kill the game if possible. They will be game in doing so. My two dogs have not quit and would not breed them should I find they are not good hunters. They have not disappointed me.
