The Great Colorado Elk Hunt

This is a much AFTER picture that we took in the Colorado Rockies. The after was a result of a surprise over night snow fall that put a few feet of snow on the ground for us to wake up to.

Not bad in itself, however, as the days went on, it seemed that one thing after another kept failing. 1st, the generator(new I might add) decided it wasn't going to work at 11,000 feet. 2nd, The truck decided to freeze up, as it was a diesel and didn't like being up that high either. 3rd, The batteries on a rig like this are only good for a couple of days, in good weather. So there you have it, the reason we decided to (get towed) remove ourselves to a some what lower elevation(one with electric hook ups).

The rest of the hunt went very well. We were afforded the opportunity to see much of the Colorado Rockies (by foot). For tbe next week we saw an awful lot. Four days in to the trip we got ouselves the ONLY look at an Elk. Unfortunatley Lee was the one with the opportunity and the Elk were about 800 yds away. Result, no shot taken!

We left the beautiful Rockies well intacked for the next hunter including leaving him more Elk then we wanted to.

For David Brown, Lyle Scrimger and myself we enjoyed the outing very much and learned a lot about the good ole Colorado Rockies.
