Rex-N-Fx Alura The Enchanted One

It was so much fun showing Chiffon, and now that she was a retired Princess,
I decided it was time to add a third Devon Rex to our home. Let's just say
that Velvet and Chiffon were less than enamored with the arrival of the little
blue bundle of energy. However my family and I were delighted to receive this
most precious gift from my Dear friend Carole Goodwin, breeder of this little
treasure.
As time went by, about six months later Velvet and Chiffon decided this little
bit was here to stay so they better make the best of it. Which they did, and now
they are all really good buddies to each other. Alura really is a character.
She prefers men to women, and she definitely has her own little attitude. Which
is why we love her.
The intent was for her to become my new show cat, but she had other ideas on that.
She went to Kansas City in August for her first kitten show. She was able to be
reunited with her sister Elf. This helped having a playmate. She did not like the
airport or the plane ride.
Next we traveled to Santa Monica California, with a van full of kittens, much to Alura's
displeasure. The funny thing is once in the hotel, she loved the van cats, just not in her
van. She had a great time romping through the hotel, playing chase, bouncing off the beds,
and having so many little playmates including seeing her sister again.
Now it was time for the international show in Texas, another plane ride, so much fun. She
did like the company of the other Devon kittens we traveled with in the hotel room,
and she shared a show cage with her sister Elf again which made her happy.
Still just tolerating the show scene, liking the attention but not thrilled with the
judging cages.
We had her spayed, and the plan was to show her in premiership. The show that she was
to get her winners ribbon's in was in Santa Rosa, California. She did not mind the car ride
but was really skittish going to the first ring. I put her in the judges cage, only to
have her let the judge know she better not try to touch her. So with a sigh I told the judge
"no I don't think she is going to do this". It took a bit to get her back to the benching area
but we managed. Once there she was fine in her own beautiful cage with her things. But the
decision was made she would just be a beloved home body pet. Her cage won first prize, she did
look pretty in those surroundings.
She makes us laugh everyday, she can be sweet, and ornery all at once. I know she is happy
here and spoiled with a life I wish every kitty could have. Thank you Carole for this little
free spirit.
