The Story of the three girls

Three make a lap full.

And then there were three... It is interesting how you can't just have one Devon Rex. They are such intelligent creatures. They are a very inquisitive cat. They desire and need human interaction, so when you can't be there all day they definitely need a friend or two.

We started out with Velvet, and five weeks later we came home with Chiffon. It took them about twenty four hours to become inseparable best friends. After all they are sisters, they have the same Mom. They have such a close bond, and call for each other if they get separated in the house. You always find them sleeping together keeping each other warm. If the sun is shining through a window they share the space. I can't imagine one without the other.

I wanted another cat to show when Chiffon retired from her career. I brought home a beautiful gift from my very dear friend Carole, a little blue ball of fun and energy called Alura.

Lets just say Velvet and Chiffon were less then thrilled with this idea. They had been the only two for three and a half years, and thought the center of the universe evolved around them. Alura really did not care, she just wanted to play.

Chiffon and Velvet decided to tell me just what they thought about this. Both of them took their posts. Chiffon remained on the foot of Justin's bed, and Velvet took charge of Travis' bed. They did this for a week, giving Alura full reign of the house. After some contemplation on their parts they thought, wait a minute we want to sleep with our Mom and run around our house wherever, and whenever we choose. Alura quickly learned she could go where they told her to.

They banned her from our bed if they wanted to be in it, she was allowed to sleep on the cat tower in our room, or on a cat bed beside our bed, but not next to them. They kept this game going for about six months, and then one day they decided she was okay. Maybe it was because she was older and not quite so ornery. Or it could of been they decided, hey she is actually kind of fun.

The three have become best buddies, and really rely on each other. For someone to sleep with, someone to get in trouble with, someone to play, and chase with. All the reasons why you just can't get by in life with only one Devon.

They bring joy to our lives everyday. They make us laugh, they are the best pillow buddies, and I just cannot imagine life any other way.
