Welcome: Secretary of the Henricus Foundation, Pauline A. Mitchell, Powhatan, VA.
History of the VA Hwy Marker Program: Dept. Mgr. & Historian, John Salmon, Richmond, VA.
Afternoon program & Public Day programs: Henricus Historic Park Director, Walter K. Heyer, Richmond, VA.
A Tour of Learning and Discovery. It all began in Flat Creek, TN in 1980: Jill Farrar Vogel, Belleville, IL.

Saturday: Henricus Historic Park Visit and Tours:

PM: Meet at the outdoor stage, or, in case of rain, in the Visitor
Center Annex for
Dr. Moreys presentation of the history of Farrars Island; and group pictures.
Guided
group walking tours to have explained and to observe the continuous progress
in the
developement of the 1611 Citie of Henricus to be completed in time for
the 2007 year-
long celebration of the quadricentennial founding of Jamestown.
Van tours of other points of interest on the Island.
Sunday: Public Day at Henricus Historic Park:
This
is your day to join with the many other visitors to experience the Park
in action and to
appreciate and be enthralled by the dedicated efforts of these many volunteers
depicting the
early history of Farrars Island. A true learning experience for the young
and the young at
heart. Remember: this 800 acre Island was part of the 2000 acres patented
by our immi-
grant grandfather, Col. William Farrar I. Here is where the first four
generations, in the
long history of our Clan, lived, worked, and played.
Monday: Tour Day, Exploring the Countryside and Points of Interest in Historic Virginia:
8:00 AM: The caravan forms. (In the Holiday Inn parking area directly across SR 10 from the Fairfield Inn.)
Malvern Hill Farm.
Lees last stand in the Seven Days Battle.
Travel senic SR 5 (originally a buffalo and Indian trail) and the Colonial Parkway.
Yorktown.
Lawn Party. The Grand Finale!
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
Fairfield Inn: 12400 Redwater Creek Rd, Chester, VA 23831; 804-778-7500. From I-95 west to first right turn. T/R.
Marker: Located SE corner of US 1/301 and Osborne Rd. From US 1/301 & SR 10 go N to 3rd light. T/L. Park in shopping parking area on left. Please ... do not park in the Marker area. We need the space for people.
Henricus Historic Park: Go E on SR 10 to 1st light after I-95 underpass. Old Stage Rd. T/L. Go to multi RR tracks. Do not cross tracks. T/R. Proceed to Park entry road on Rt.
Boat Ramp: Go E on SR 10 to 1st light after I-95 underpass. Old Stage Rd. T/L. Go to multi RR tracks. Do not cross tracks. T/R. Continue to end of road. Large parking area available.
Nature Trail: The head of the trail is at the far end of the boat ramp parking area.
Malvern Hill Farm: Go N on I-295 to Exit 22, SR 5 (7 m). Go Rt (E) to just past CR 156 (Willis Church Rd) (6 or 7 m). See Malvern Hill Ln on left.
Colonial Parkway: Take SR 5 to Williamsburg and connect with the Parkway.
Yorktown: Located at the north end of the Colonial Parkway.
Lawn Party: Mrs. Deane Mills, 1306 Calthrop Neck Rd., Yorktown, VA 23693. Ph: 757-868-6863. Email: hydrangea@picusnet.com. Her mailing address is correct; however, she is not in Yorktown. She is on the north edge of Newport News.
From Yorktown go S on US 17 to Victory Blvd. (SR 171) (7 or 8 m). T/L. Go to 3rd light (Calthrop Neck Rd.) T/L. Go 1.2 m. House cannot be seen from road. See large mailbox with large1306 on it on right side of road. T/R. Go up the long lane to parking direction signs. Park in open field on the left.
Return to Chester: From our Lawn Party return to US 17 south. Cross
over the wide James on the James River Bridge to Bartlett (first town,
small). T/R on US 258/SR 32. Proceed to SR 10 (about 3 m). T/R. Continue
on to Chester.
