"Dr. Henke's success as an independent management
consultant comes as no surprise to me. His business and
operational strengths were very apparent even in the early
SDRC years, where we worked side by side for over a decade. I had the pleasure to report to and learn from Russ Henke during years together at SDRC, specifically as I managed consulting groups and field subsidiaries. Russ is an especially strong operational executive and I benefited significantly working under his guidance.”

"Dr. Henke's outstanding resume speaks for itself. What it doesn't tell you
is that his approach to business and working with people extracts more productivity and dedication from employees than any business leader I have ever had the opportunity to work with. Dr. Henke is extremely demanding, yet reasonable
and pragmatic - with nothing but the highest standards for business ethics. He is equally strong at working strategic or operational issues. Any organization, public or private, small or large, would be fortunate to have Dr. Henke as an executive, advisor or board member."
“I worked very closely with Dr. Russ Henke during his tenure as interim General Manager of SILMA, a division of Adept Technology. His technical depth and breadth, personal and professional discipline, business acumen, and team building skills are very strong. Russ can coax the best out of a team, challenge status quo, inspire change, and in the end deliver new technologies and products to the marketplace. At SILMA, Russ focused the SILMA team to develop and then successfully execute a new business plan in a very short period of time. Out of that business plan came two new CAM products for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for the Quality Industry. Now more than a decade later, the underlying technology and user interface for these products continue to be successful and state-of-the-art even after SILMA was acquired. Dr. Henke's direct contribution was in the form of leadership, focus, and technical synthesis that ultimately drove the organization to hit a critical window of opportunity and succeed. It was Russ’ good judgment, bottom-line business focus, and powerful communication skills that helped SILMA accomplish this in just 18 intense months. I heartily recommend Russ Henke in a management capacity or his services as a business consultant, and would gladly work with Russ again.” December 3, 2009

Here's a treasured endorsement:

(Dr. M. Eugene Merchant began his career in 1936 with a graduate fellowship sponsored by Cincinnati Milacron. Working under Hans Ernst, Milacron's then director of research, Gene started analyzing the nature of friction between the metal-cutting tool and the chip being removed from the work piece by it. Conceived more than 50 years ago, Merchant's thesis work developed a mathematical model of the metal cutting process that is still taught today by universities all over the world. From there, Dr. Merchant moved on to harnessing the power of computers. More than forty years ago, Gene visualized today's computer-integrated manufacturing systems, and thus was a driving force in productivity improvements that have played a major role in creating the standard of living Americans enjoy today. Dr. Merchant is one of only 25 people who have been inducted into the Automation Hall of Fame at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Every year the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) has presented an award, that is named after Dr. Merchant, for improving the productivity and efficiency of manufacturing. Dr Merchant worked at Milacron nearly 50 years until he reached the mandatory retirement age of 70, however, he did not retire. Even beyond 90 years young, this mild-mannered scientist still went to work most days as a senior advisor at TechSolve and he still traveled around the world to help manufacturers and the people who work for them. Dr. Merchant has been sorely missed since his passing in 2006).

Another Valued Endorsement:
Also, I have supplied four additional letters from persons of high reputation who have comprehensive knowledge of Dr. Henke's engineering contributions over the years. I personally know each of these sponsors and feel that they can accurately judge, from personal experience, Dr. Henke's qualifications.
I have been an ASME member since I was a student at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC where I joined the ASME student section in 1949. I served as student section secretary, treasurer, vice chairman and chairman for both my junior and senior years. After graduation, I promptly converted my membership from student member grade to junior member. I served ASME as regional vice president and enjoyed my work with this professional society and have been active throughout my entire career. When I was elected as a Fellow grade, I was quite honored, for I knew the difficult qualifications that must be met to be named an ASME Fellow.
Last year I had the opportunity of serving as our International President of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers with headquarters in Dearborn, MI. During my term in office, I worked closely with Dr. Henke while he was an International Board of Directors member in 2002-2003.
I was also elected a Fellow in the National Society of Professional Engineers and also consider that a distinctive honor.
I am honored to sponsor Dr. Henke for this truly outstanding award and hope that your committee will look favorably upon this candidate.

It’s infrequent to see managerial prowess combined with technical proficiency in one individual. This combination enabled Dr. Henke to make such unique contributions to Industry on National and International scales. As a pioneer in the engineering software field Dr. Henke’s vision and innovation have been an enabling instrument that pushed the capabilities of engineers to increasingly higher levels. The result has been enhanced engineering efficiency, product reliability, reduced product cost and improved competitiveness.
Dr. Henke’s accomplishments in the creation and promotion of leading technology innovations and his managerial leadership and contributions to industry are fully harmonious with the highest standards.

"Russ was the president of SDRC when I first started my career at that company. Although we didn't work together much then, we've crossed paths multiple times since then. It is remarkable how many times I have encountered up and coming technical companies only to learn that Russ is often one the engines driving the works behind the scenes. His breadth, marketing expertise and technical grasp are truly admirable."
