Independent Consultant Elected
to
SME College of Fellows

Dearborn, MI – June 13, 2000 News was received today that Dr. Russell F. Henke has been elected to the SME College of Fellows, per Mr. Alvin M. Sabroff, FSME, Chairman, Fellows Section Committee, SME. Henke was nominated for consideration on December 1, 1999 (see related News Release below).

The SME Fellows installation ceremony will be held the evening of November 13, 2000 at the SME Fall Board Meeting, where a Fellow Medallion and Pin will be presented. The citation will read, "Russell F. Henke, Ph.D., P.E., FSME: For leadership and innovation in CAD/CAM/CAE & Education in mechanical & electronic automation during his 30 year corporate career at Cincinnati Milacron, SDRC, Applicon, ATP and Mentor Graphics, followed by his ongoing business consulting practice."

"Election as an SME Fellow is very prestigious", according to Mr. Sabroff. "In the entire history of the SME, only 225 Fellows have been elected from the worldwide SME membership."

Throughout his career, Henke has been a relentless advocate for focusing on improving both US productivity and US wealth generation by constantly enhancing the country's manufacturing infrastructure. "Our manufacturing strength is the key to our ongoing economic success, prosperity and security", says Henke. "Breakthroughs in CAD/CAM/CIM and high technology create no wealth on their own, except to the extent they allow enterprises that make real things to design and manufacture them faster, better and less expensively".

Fourth Anniversary

Business Consultant Observes
Two Major Milestones of
Independent Practice

Berkeley, CA – March 31, 2000 "Today marks two major events in the history of this consultancy", said Dr. Russell F. Henke, principal. The first is the successful conclusion of a yearlong consulting assignment at Adept/SILMA (see news releases below). "This experience has been delightful and mutually-rewarding for both the client and me, but it is now time to move on to other assignments and opportunities", said Henke.

The second event today, is the commemoration of of the fourth anniversary of the founding of the consulting practice.

"After the third year, I didn't think it would be possible to be busier, but this fourth year proved once more that there is always more that a busy person can take on", said Henke. "But I think I'll take at least the weekend to celebrate! Again, many thanks to my past and present clients, my valued consulting associates, and to those great folks who have both referred clients and endorsed my consulting practice!"

Independent Consultant Schedule Eases Somewhat

Berkeley, CA – January 7, 2000 Back on August 23, 1999, independent hi-tech consultant Dr. Russell F. Henke took on a full time interim General Manager position at Adept Technology, Inc., San Jose, CA. (See details below in the news release of that date). As of today, a new permanent General Manager has been successfully recruited.

Accordingly, Henke will revert to his previous advisory consulting role at Adept that began in April 1999, including business planning, management counseling and helping to drive new strategic partnerships for key lines-of-business for the firm (www.adept.com).

"I would like to thank Russ Henke for his strong commitment and contributions as acting General Manager of SILMA since August," said Brian R. Carlisle, Adept's Chief Executive Officer. "As a result of Russ' stewardship, the outlook today for SILMA is quite promising. Beyond the marked revenue improvement in the December quarter over that of the September quarter, Russ' sales team's forecast for the March 2000 quarter is quite strong. In addition, just this week SILMA closed important business at its major automotive account in Dearborn, and we are now very well positioned for large programs at another domestic and at a large international auto company,", said Carlisle. "Going forward as our Senior Vice President - Business Development, Russ will not only focus on strategic partnerships associated with our CMM INSPECTION software products, but also he will help drive our thrusts with Production PILOT and DAC in the process planning and CAD design side of SILMA".

"I am delighted with the progress that was achieved over the second half of 1999, especially the encouraging increases in quarter-to-quarter revenue growth", said Henke. "These last five months have been very intense with a steady diet of 65+ hours per week of effort. But it's always instructive to immerse oneself into the position of direct responsibility from time to time, thereby keeping one's line-management skills honed as well as injecting a suitable measure of humility into one's ongoing consulting advice. I am now anxious to re-focus my consulting assignment for Adept and also once more begin to free up at least a few hours per week for other consulting clients".

Consultant Nominated for SME College of Fellows

Dearborn, MI – December 1, 1999 Dr. Russell F. Henke, independent hi-tech business consultant, today was nominated as a candidate for the SME College of Fellows. The SME Board of Directors created the College of Fellows years ago to honor those members who have made outstanding social, technological and educational contributions to the profession of manufacturing. This is a distinctive and prestigious honor that can only be earned through years of dedication and service to manufacturing engineering. Fellow Status carries a lifetime membership in SME (www.sme.org).

To achieve Fellow status, a candidate must be independently nominated by other SME Fellows, recommended by the Fellows Selection Committee, and elected by the SME Board.

"This is a tremendous honor to have received this nomination, regardless of the ultimate outcome of the selection process that comes deep in the year 2000", said Dr. Henke. "I have treasured my membership in the SME throughout my career".

Consultant to Attend CAD Summit

Chicago, IL – October 14, 1999 Dr. Russell F. Henke, independent hi-tech business consultant, today confirmed his planned attendance at The Summit on the Future of Engineering Software. The Summit will be held in Chicago on Monday, November 8, 1999. Attendance is by invitation only from The CAD Society (http://www.cadsociety.org), a not-for-profit organization. Independent Hi-Tech Consultant Converts to Full Time Engagement

Berkeley, CA – August 23, 1999 On May 1, 1999, Dr. Russell F. Henke accepted a nearly full time engagement at a San Jose-headquartered $100 million mechanical automation hardware/software public corporation (details in news release below). Now that Dr. Henke has completed his previous obligations to other clients for now, he has taken on a full time interim General Manager position in this same public corporation (www.adept.com).

"This new role will continue for the indefinite future and rules out other consulting engagements for now", said Henke. "However, discussions can occur at any time regarding possible engagements that might begin early next year".

"The new Business Plan for the software portion of this excellent Company is nearing completion, and we are getting ready for rapid growth over the next several years", said Henke. "It's a genuine pleasure to participate!"

Independent Hi-Tech Consultant Takes On Another Nearly Full Time Engagement

Berkeley, CA – May 1, 1999 After two years since completing a previous full time consulting commitment, Dr. Russell F. Henke has accepted for the foreseeable future, a nearly full time engagement at a San Jose-headquartered $100 million mechanical automation hardware/software public corporation. "This engagement just began as a standard advisory consulting engagement in early April 1999, but the Chairman/CEO and I quickly agreed that a heavier commitment would be required to help effect the changes needed within key divisions of the enterprise", said Henke. "Indeed, this new assignment could easily require full time, but I am absolutely determined to fulfill commitments to other equally-important clients by virture of previous contracts established during 1998".

"It looks like I have signed on to spending a total of 40 to 45 hours a week for some time period to come, so the average of 115 hours per month of chargable consulting over the last 37 months, will now begin to inch up toward a higher number. As a result of this new assignment, I will be unable to take on any more actual consulting engagements for a period of time, but of course I will be able to meet with possible future clients to discuss projects that could start later in the year".

"I am particularly excited by the opportunity to work with this company", said Henke. "The engagement will demand the exercise of vitually every part of my background in mechanical engineering, software development, graphics, CAD/CAM/CAE, and high tech business planning, marketing and management".

Third Anniversary

Business Consultant Observes
Major Milestone of
Independent Practice

Berkeley, CA – March 31, 1999
"Today marks Three Years since the establishment of this independent management consulting practice here in California", said Dr. Russell F. Henke, principal.

"It’s amazing – the time has just flown by. Getting immersed in so many different business issues and opportunities has been an incredibly satisfying experience. I am extremely grateful to the clients that I have been fortunate enough to work with over this period".

"There have been similarities and differences in the last year, compared to the first two years", said Henke. "As before, the longer engagements yielded the most benefits to all concerned. And putting in about three weeks out of every month among two to three clients, seems to be the optimum for best results. But during the last twelve months, I have been delighted with the increasing number of consulting associates who have joined me on several projects, and the added teamwork has led to handsome dividends for the clients involved. The mix of clients this past year has also included more collaboration with start-up companies, more assistance in identifying and recruiting key executives for clients, and more liaisons with angel, venture and corporate investors."

"Fortunately, my workload is as heavy as ever", said Henke, "But I always felt during my corporate days that it was important to pause on certain occasions to reflect at least briefly on past accomplishments and the contributions by others. This Third Anniversary is one of those. These past three years are what consulting is all about: constant change and challenge; building lasting relationships; and creating observable positive results for clients that endure long after the engagements are concluded. I look forward to this upcoming fourth year with great anticipation. Again, many thanks to my past and present clients, my valued consulting associates, and to those great folks who have both referred clients and endorsed my consulting practice!"
