Small Business Partnership Startup - Goodhouse & Harrison Computer Services
I started a small business with a friend I had meet in computer repair class. We did installations, repairs, and sales for general public and small business's. We also became a consulting Vendor to Citizens National Mortgage again, handling New purchase's, repairs, inventory, ans Security controls. We assisted in setting-up small WAN to remote offices in Calif., Az., Nv., and Texas. Primary office utilized TCNS 100 bps ARCNET. Printing Services were established with Ethernet, WAN utilization was Ethernet with T-1's using DSU/CSU's & ACC 4200 routers. From June 93 to 3-94, this Corp became our primary customer until rising interest rates forced the closure of the Mortgage co.
1-94 to 6-94
I had started to consulting for U.S.C. School of Medicine Dept. of Pathology. This consisted of repairs, maintenance, training and customization of this small 13 station dept. Remote work setup procedures were established and a work group flow were created to bring the dept up to connecting to the main campus. The Network connecting was done by U.S.C. MIS dept. My task was making the dept ready for the switch over and work group flow.
7-94 to 1-95
I accepted a temp. position at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, at the helpdesk. The team was made up of DOS/Windows, Mac, and Mainframe personal. My task involved DOS/Windows applications, helping users locally and nationally, with first level desk top application, printing, and connectivity issues. We each learned to cover support issues in areas of e-mail, VMS, HP, & NetWare. I was appointed Network Administrator for the helpdesk file server and the backup administrator for 10 other departmental file servers. I was responsible for keeping support applications and knowledge base for the DOS/Windows/NetWare for our dept. As a member of the first level support team, we coordinated repairs, replacements, and relocations of computer equipment. We shared the primary support for the relocating of 2000 employees from one building to another new building on Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, with the second level team.

 

1-95 to 7-95
I went back to Citizens National Mortgage as the MIS manager to coordinate the closure of the Corp. MIS Dept and liquidation of the remaining of the file servers, printers and work stations. This involved a running liquidation inventory, relocating users and users equipment, as each department was closed. This involved keeping the company running as it was being liquidated and archiving the history of Corporations 7 year record of business and relocating remaining business from a 44,000 sq. ft. building to a 5,000 ft office space for final liquidation.
8-95 to 5-96
I've been providing individual and small business support, repair, training, and upgrading of equipment. I have been personally learning Windows 95 and Windows NT by setting up a small computer lab in my home. I have 1-Win NT 3.51, 1-Win NT 4.0b2 Servers, 1-Win NT 4.0b2 workstation, 1-Windows 95 and 2-Windows 3.1 workgroup work stations. Primary issues with Win NT 4.0 Beta has been a lack of current driver Support. This has assisted my training of application, and connectivity issues locally and through the Internet. I have also become fairly proficient in HTML authoring and Citrix Server Corporate remote activity services through the internet. I have been preparing for the next generation of work at home clients and internet service issues. I have watched Windows NT move ahead of Novels Netware, aggressively into the possibility of the OS of the near future generations of work-at-home activities.

6-96 to 9-99

I joined Rykoff Sexton (A National Foodservice Co.) to work on a Sales Automation Training team for the Corporate Office. We traveled from branch office to teach the sales force how to use order entry software and Lap Top Computers. After training sales people and support staff, we would go to customer’s locations and train customers to do Direct Order Entry. We also worked on a support desk to support customers and sales people for issues that would come up. As software changed, we would learn the New Software, Evaluate New Software and develop a training program that we would use to teach salesmen and customers to use the New Systems. This work continued even after the Merger with US Foodservice. Our Team was merged into the US Foodservice Corporate Team to become one team. As a Senior Trainer I generally stayed at each location after initial training to take care of special problems that would come up

10-99 to Current 4-02

October of ’99 I was offered a position at the local branch to become the Sales Automation Training Manager of So. Calif.  I was in charge of 150 Salesmen and all 250 Direct Order Entry Customer’s in So. Calif. With help from the Corporate Team, we grew the Direct Order Entry Customers to almost 600. After a few more Mergers and changes in management, Our Division was downsized and my position was merged into an over staffed IS team and I was no longer needed.
