The sport of snowboarding underwent a boom in popularity in the mid to late 1990's. This growth, fueled by the youth of America, has brought a whole new genre of sports to public attention.
Most of these sports had been around for some time, but were dismissed as "underground" or "fringe" activities. The participants were considered "crazy kids" and not real athletes.
But thanks to the X-Games, Gravity Games, and a host of other "Extreme" competitions, these sports have gained mainstream attention. The next few pages are dedicated to the people of this extreme sports movement.
For most of my life, I've participated in one high-adrenaline sport or another. Here are pictures of my friends and I participating in just some of the sports we love.
