May 16, 2008,
Everything's cool here at the Hacienda!
I am hangin' in there for a hot Summer...
I am now learning more about electronics, sextants and navigation, and some other languages for kicks....hey, it doesn't require batteries$$$!
I am also looking for work after 18 years with MCI (now Verizon)...know of any Telecom or Radio RF jobs available? I am using my off-time wisely (i.e. reading and learning, eating hot pockets, and practicing retirement...NOT!).
Janet is doing great at work and keeping the weekends fun!
My Son Eric (almost 22) is working for the Sheet Metal Union. Someday he may even build a boat on his spare time...He is really good with his hands and tools! He spends much of his time working, and saving to buy his first home. He's in his first apartment...near his Mother's (ex-wife's) area. Eric and his girlfriend Michelle enjoying riding dirt bikes when they have down time. They do a lot of outdoors biking, surfing, and hiking stuff too!
Eric has his Ham Radio Tech License....waiting for him to get his General License upgrade so we can talk long distances using HF frequencies, especially when he is out challenging the vast landscapes with his jeep during Summer weekends.
My young beautiful Daughter Thera (23) recieved her Masters Degree! CONGRATULATIONS!!! She spends her days with her boyfriend Mike around the Sacramento area.
My eldest beautiful Daughter Chae (28), Son-in-law Ed (now 30!), and my three Grandboys; Garrett Wayne, (10), Jarrett Wyll (7), and D'Angelo (5) spent last Summer here in California! We all learned to skateboard (and how to crash-and-burn!), played horse shoes, and I taught them morse code (aka "creating noise" to the rest of the family!). They moved back to East Texas just in time for school, and another hurricane...I guess evacuating during Hurricane Katrina was not enough for them!). I sure do miss them!
My half-Sister Sharie (Florida) is soon to be married, and my half-Brother Jason and his family (also in Florida) are doing good. Long lost half-Brother Rodney Hampton is somewhere around the Pheonix, Arizona area last we heard? Dad (Tom) and Joyce Hampton are having fun with all the Grand Children! My Brother Chris Noonan and Sister-in-law Tiff, and my Sister Marie Noonan (both in different areas of California) and thier families (my Nieces and Nephews; Ashley, Bobby, Kevin, Amber, and Amanda) are all doing good these days, with my Great-Nephew Alex (1 yr old).
Step-Dad (Jerry) is doing great in San Dimas. Hope he is relaxing in-between volunteering a lot of time with the Catholic Church Knights of Columbus groups, whoch helps many dis-advantaged families and individuals through the Catholic Church.
Well, I have been living in Northern California for most of the past 35 years (Lived mostly in San Dimas during my childhood/teen days). You can catch me on VHF 147.060 Mhz (+ offset, PL Tone = 100hz) from the Mt. Diablo Amateur Radio Club (MDARC) Repeater (Concord, CA area)...just call out for my HAM Radio Call Sign: KF6FGH. I don't have any antennas on the new house (yet), but I'm working VHF, UHF, and HF off my handheld and my truck's mobile 100 watt radios. Also enjoy digital communications (rtty, amtor, MT-63, etc.) using MixW software...Need more practice using morse code to get up to 20 wpm. Oh yea, my '91 Harley is running great with new brakes! My '80 HD Shovelhead chopper is still under re-construction...a never ending story!
Haven't heard from a lot of my hometown friends from San Dimas lately... Hey Harry, Teddy (Joe), Elizabeth!, and Tommy Dale Jennen (somewhere around Russellville, Arkansas), how are ya guys lately? I see/email Brian, Barbara, Mike R., Donna D., Jimmy often!
