Day Hike (2B/3C). Gilmore Lake / Mt Tallac in
Desolation Wilderness. We’ll hike to
Gilmore Lake with an optional ascent to Mt. Tallac while the others
remain at
Gilmore Lake to relax and look around. We’ll
see wonderful high Sierra forest, lakes, and granite.
From Mt. Tallac we’ll see amazing views of
Lake Tahoe. Hike is 8 miles with 1,800'
elevation gain to Gilmore Lake. With optional ascent to Mt. Tallac it
is 11 miles and 3000 feet of gain. Hike
is advertised for ages 18-40s, but everyone is welcome. Optional dinner
after. Limited to

Hike (1B). Mount Judah. Moderately strenuous 4.6 total mile loop hike to the summit of Mount Judah (8,243’) near Sugar Bowl ski area. Spectacular view from the summit. 1,155’ elev. gain. Bring lunch, water, jacket, hiking boots and money for optional carpooling. Rain cancels. No dogs. No reservation needed. For ages 18-40s, but all are welcome. Meet 9 a.m. @ Horseshoe Bar Rd. Moon Hike (1A). Sierra Foothills We’ll meet at Streets of
London Pub in Folsom, have an optional drink and/or dinner and then
head to the Auburn State Recreation Area where we’ll do a moderately
strenuous 5 total mile stroll along the Olmstead Trail under a romantic
full moon! Bring water, jacket, flashlight, sturdy shoes and money for
optional drink/dinner and carpooling. Rain or cloudy skies cancels. No
dogs. For ages 18-40s, but all are welcome. Meet 6:30 p.m. @ Streets of
London Pub, 649 East Bidwell Street, Folsom, but no later than 8 p.m.;
we’ll leave the pub to do the hike at 8:30 p.m. and return to the pub
by 1 a.m. Contact leader before October 3 to confirm attendance and for

Hike (2B). Island Lake in Desolation Wilderness. Hike is 7 miles with 1200 feet of elevation gain. Start out in lush forest near Wrights Lake and ascend into open granite areas at Twin Lakes and our destination, Island Lake at 8,100 feet. Shade is limited for much of the hike. Trip. Mojave National Preserve. We will visit the California desert when temperatures are cooler and clean up a large illegal dump area on National Park Service land that has built up over the years. We will be joined by staff from the Mojave National Preserve for National Public Lands day. A hike is planned for Friday for those arriving in the morning. We will work all day Saturday and until noon on Sunday. We will hear a ranger talk about the Preserve on Friday evening. Camping will be rustic, but a portable restroom will be provided. We'll be treated to a barbecue by the Preserve staff on Saturday evening. A high clearance vehicle is recommended to access the site, but we can shuttle people and gear if needed. Day Hike (1B). Western States Trail to El Dorado Canyon. Moderately strenuous 5.6
total mile hike which starts at the historic gold rush town of Michigan
Bluff and follows the Western States Trail to El Dorado Canyon near the
Middle Fork of the American River. The oak trees should provide some
nice fall color. 1,600’ elev. gain. Bring lunch, water, jacket, hiking
boots and money for optional carpooling. Rain, snow or adverse road
conditions cancels. No dogs. No reservation needed. For ages 18-40s,
but all are welcome. Meet 9 a.m. @ Horseshoe Bar Rd. Park & Ride in
Loomis (I-80 east from Sacramento to the Horseshoe Bar Rd. exit, turn
