| Day Hike
(2C). Mount Diablo State Park We will hike through beautiful Mitchell Canyon and up to Eagle Peak at 2369 feet. We will see habitat ranging from oak woodland and riparian forest to chaparral. Trail has steep sections with loose gravel and other sections with steep slopes to either side, but we are rewarded with excellent views of the surrounding peaks and canyons, Central Valley and the Delta. Hike is 8 miles with 2,100' elevation gain. Optional dinner afterwards. Hike is geared to ages 18-40s, but everyone is welcome. Limited to 12. Rain cancels. (1A). Deer Creek Hills An easy docent-led hike at beautiful Deer Creek Hills in eastern Sacramento County. Deer Creek Hills is an open space preserve managed by the Sacramento Valley Conservancy (http://www.sacramentovalleyconservancy.org/). Bring lunch, water and money for optional carpooling. For ages 18-40s, but all are welcome. Heavy rain cancels. Meeting locations: 7:30 a.m. at 11th & P Streets (downtown Sacramento) and 8:15 a.m. at Iron Point Light Rail Station Park & Ride in Folsom (from east or westbound Hwy. 50, take the Folsom Blvd. exit in Folsom, turn left onto Folsom Blvd., go ½ mile, turn right onto Iron Point Rd., go 100’ and turn right into the first driveway on the right and into in the long parking lot). (1A). Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge An easy docent-led hike at scenic Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge (http://www.fws.gov/stonelakes) near Elk Grove. Bring lunch, water, binoculars (lots of birds!) and money for optional carpooling. For ages 18-40s, but all are welcome. Rain cancels. | Urban Bicycle Ride
(Easy). Sacramento This is a short, late morning urban bicycle ride that combines 50% city street riding (mostly bicycle lanes) with the Sacramento River and American River bicycle trails. Approximately 12 miles of riding. We will have stops in Old Sacramento, at the water intake facility on the Sacramento River, and a recent habitat restoration spot. Must wear bicycle helmet. | Day Hike (3B). Alamere Falls, Point
Reyes National
Seashore. We’ll hike from Palomarin trailhead to Wildcat Camp and along the shore to Alamere Falls. Along the way we’ll pass several small lakes and see great views of the coast. Hike is about 11 miles with 1000 feet of elevation gain. Some rock scrambling required to get from beach to top of bluff. Hike is advertised for ages 18-40s, but everyone is welcome. Limited to 12. | Day Hike (3C). McNee Ranch State Park.
Come explore this part of the California Coast near Pacifica. Hike starts at the coast and climbs steeply in the first 3 miles to the ridge above. We will hike through coastal scrub habitat up to San Pedro Mountain at around 1700 feet. On a clear day there are excellent views of the ocean, coastline, Mt. Tamalpais, and Mount Diablo. Total elevation gain is about 2000 feet with 10 miles of hiking. Optional dinner afterwards. Hike is advertised for ages 18-40s, but everyone is welcome. Limited to 12. Rain cancels.
