Nurture

CHRISTIAN NURTURE NEWS

Planning and looking toward fall are always a focus for Christian Nurture in the summer months.  Besides the classes and programs we are continuing, we are always evaluating our needs and trying to address how they may have changed during the year.

So, there is a lot going on, but not a lot to tell as yet. We have reviewed some new curriculum choices for children’s Sunday school with Betty Crowell our presbytery resource specialist, and as most of you know, we are discussing what our mid-week ministry will be, not just to children, but also to Calvary as a whole.  We have appreciated the input from Session, and under Rex’s guidance, a group of us has been brainstorming and working through some proposals for what a new mid-week ministry might look like.

But we’re not just planning for Fall, we are busy with a myriad of Christian Nurture events throughout the summer—our ecumenical VBS at Oneonta; Seeker’s Bible study on Thursday evenings with Holly Vecchio;  Mens’ Discussion Group on Monday nights; Adventures in Narnia for the children on Sunday mornings; Jamba Jam for Youth—and more, lots more. Give me a call if you are looking for something in particular, or need to know times and dates for summer happenings.  I would love to talk to you and to see more of you learning together at Calvary.

There are so many ways God meets us in our day-to-day lives; one of those is when we nurture each other in our Christian faith.  Programs and events offered at Calvary through Christian Nurture, Parish Life and other ministries provide an opportunity to say “yes” to Christ and to be in fellowship with one another.

In Matthew 18:20, Jesus reminds us, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” Being with Christ, being with your faith family, encouraging each other, and journeying together…summer at Calvary is full of promise…join us and share in it!

Warmest summer blessings!
