Achieve School
San Jose, CA
Pictured is the second phase of a two-phase San Jose building for a school and social service agency for autistic and developmentally challenged children ages 3-22. Architectural services were first provided to permit, through the Division of the State Architect, the renovation of classrooms at an existing public school site and the installation of relocatables for offices. Immediately after settling into this temporary location, the school identified a property. Public meetings and hearings were facilitated which resulted in the granting of the Conditional Use of the facility. Extensive remodeling of the 20,000 s.f. building to accommodate the requirements of a school for special needs children was accomplished on a fast-track basis. Major revisions to the site plan also were designed and built to provide several playgrounds, on-site storage and a new parking layout. The project was completed on time and under budget.
