| I've been working too hard lately getting the
house and yard ready for winter. The only way to get a rest from it is to get
away from it. So I decided to pack a lunch, fire up the bird, and take a ride.
Here I stopped along Patterson Pass Road to stretch my legs and have a smoke. I am right among the wind generators that dot these hills. There are thousands of them, many in a state of disrepair. That's a little confusing considering the infamous "California Power Crisis". |
| This is looking to the other side of the road
where there are cattle grazing among the wind generators. It struck me as old
meeting new. If it weren't for the generators polluting the skyline this
could pass for a picture of an old west cattle ranch.
A major problem with the wind generators is the blades killing many raptors which populate this area and unfortunately fly into the blades. I guess they don't hurt the cattle unless one gets hit by a falling part, and they do lose parts. |
| This is a nice fall-looking shot of the T-Bird parked at Lake Del Valle, where I ended up going to eat my lunch. |
| Here's another shot taken at the same place but from a different angle. I was the only person around and it was very peaceful and relaxing. I succeeded in getting away from it all, if only for a short time. |
| I couldn't go to Del Valle without cruising the campground. Here I parked in my usual campsite, #3, just for the heck of it. |
| Normally my tent trailer and my wife's 4-Runner would be sitting where the T-Bird is. I decided that next spring that is going to happen come hell or high water. |
| This final shot was taken at the top of Del Valle
Road overlooking The Livermore Valley. If I had my binoculars I may have been
able to pick out my house from here.
It was a fairly short outing but it did the job. I came home feeling like a new man. Well, almost. |
