Pierre Probst: The American Shorts

These American "short stories" are relatively rare. However, they go for less than their British counterparts for some reason. They have ranged from $50 to $350, most going for right around $100. They measure in size about the same as the Treasuries, but are only about 25 pages. The following are the ones I've seen on Ebay.

Caroline in Europe, 1960
In this story Caroline and her friends start their journey in the harbor of New York City, heading across the Atlantic. They stop in various locations on the Continent, including France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy. It is cute, but not nearly as good as some of the stories in the Treasury, in my opinion.

Over the last 2½ years about twenty have come up for sale on Ebay.

Caroline at the Ranch, 1961
I've also seen about 20 of these go by in the last 2½ years. It appears to be the same short story from the British Treasury but with the American character names. The pictures on this one are very cute, and the story is pretty good. Very similar to the Treasuries.
