Pierre Probst: The British Shorts, 1960-1979

These British "short stories" are the most common of the English titles on Ebay (i.e. compared to the American two). The price range for the 70 or so I've seen come up on Ebay between the periods of September 99 and February 02 is $36 to $430, with the average around $125. The following are the British shorts I've seen on Ebay:

Caroline's Grand Tour, 1960, 1973
Printed in 1960 and then again in 1973. This seems to be a nearly identical British version of Caroline in Europe, with maybe one different page. It is the most common of the smaller British ones, and sells throughout the common range. About 30 have sold in the last 2½ years between $36 and $380, depending upon condition and economy. Evidently this appeared in the British Treasury mentioned in the Treasuries page.

Caroline's Party
Based upon the cover image, this appears to be the oldest of the British single stories. It shows Caroline at her youngest age. I've seen five of these go by in the last 2½ years. The average price was $160. I imagine this is the same story that starts off the American Treasury edition.

Caroline to the Rescue
I've just seen five of these go by, being sold for $66 to $383, averaging $125. It appears to be the same as the short out of the American Golden Treasury.

Caroline's Circus, 1972
Twelve of these have gone in the last 2½ years. They ranged between $52 and $356, average price was around $200. Not sure if this is out of the British Treasury or not. It lists Jane Carruth as "told by" but she might be the translator.
Caroline's Wonderful Journey, 1972
Printed in 1966 and 1972 by William Collins Sons. Nine of these have come up for auction, and done very well (up to $430). It is a very cute version of European and World History through the eyes of Caroline and her friends. It is probably the best of the British shorts that I own.

Caroline At the Seaside, 1966, 1972
This one like the Circus also lists the name Jane Carruth. I've seen seven go on Ebay, most for under $100. Don't know why it is cheaper, but it is a good story.
Caroline's Winter Holiday, 1972, 1973
Eleven of these have come up while i've been watching, most for over $100, averaging around $140. This appears to be the same story that is in the American Treasury.

Caroline Goes to Sea
This has only come up three times and has fallen in the usual range (around $125). I picked one up and foud it to be the same as the story in the American Treasury named "Trip to India", except for minor changes.
  More Adventures of Caroline, 1956
I've only recently seen this one on Ebay. I had never seen it before. It appears to be the Spring Cleaning story of the American Treasury. It was printed in Great Britain by Purnell and Sons in 1956.
