Our family posing in front of the ol' faithful Honda on the day we sold it: August 1999
Welcome to our famlies' Home Page Newsletter! Here you'll find up-to-date pictures that document our lives together and with our friends and family, as well as some really old ones that may bring back some memories for some of you visiting us. I have also included a link to pages containing pictures of the Poly High School Class of '79 Reunion held this past August (yea, I finally got around to scanning them). There are also some nostalgic pictures from Strathern Street Elementary (they just celebrated their 50th Anniversary this year), from the 6th Grade graduating class of 1973.

I know that I haven't been very diligent at getting this newsletter updated as regularly as I had planned. Life keeps going on, and it seems that there's never enough time to do the things that you really want to do. I finally got some time off from work, using the vacation days before I lose them, so I'm catching up on some of the things I've had to put off the last few months.
Annette and the boys are doing well. Annette really does enjoy her job at the school, and driving the new truck. She's been very busy making our house nice and "Christmassy", and getting the Christmas shopping done. We just got the Christmas tree up over the weekend, and she and Kevin did a wonderful job decorating it.
Kevin is doing very well in the 8th grade. Annette and I got invited to attend a holiday luncheon put on by his Advanced Cooking class, and it really was a pleasent surprise. The class had prepared a great meal, including hors deourves, punch, and egg nog. All in all, a great job by his teacher and his class. They should be very proud of their work.
Kenny just received an Outstanding Citizenship award at his school's assembly last Friday. He managed this by having perfect attendance and consecutive "perfect weeks" which means that ....he "done good". Although it's hard to believe, after this year, both of our kids will be out of elementary school. We already have one "rotten teenager" as my dad always called us, and Kenny's not far off from there himself.
I have been doing a few DJ jobs this month, and my last one is planned for this weekend. That should do it for the year, unless someone calls me at the last minute. The money made from DJ jobs really does help us out this time of year.
My hockey team (we're called "Team Phoenix") was in first place until mid-season, and then we took a six-game losing slide....missing the playoffs by 1/2 a point! Talk about disappointing! Oh, well, win or lose, I really do have a great time playing the sport I love and I dread the time, that I won't be able to play anymore. It really does seem like that's a long way off... I still feel pretty good physically, and have no problem keeping up with most of the "20-somethings" we play against. I do think that I'll have to take up golf once I get to the point that I can't play hockey anymore, but I think that's a long way off.
My old pal Scott Clark was here last week, and we managed to get a good hike in, as well as taking our favorite mountain bike trip, which is called "Red Box to JPL". Red Box is a trail head that is near the top of Mount Wilson. It's an approximate 4-hour trip from there to the bottom, through extremely rugged terrain, but incredibly nice scenery and wildlife to see on the way. The ride ends at the bottom of Angeles Crest, near the Jet Propulsion Labrotory parking lot. What a great ride! It's always a great time! Scott and I also scouted out some more local bike riding possibilities within ten miles of my house that we plan to take sometime in the near future.

(From Left to Right) Scott Goebl, myself, and Scott Clark on one of our great camping trips. This was taken at Thousand Island Lake in the Devil's Postpile National Monument Wilderness Area a few years back. This was the trip that we had our greatest (and scariest) bear encounter. What a story! Remind me to tell you about this one.
We're planning on spending New-Year's with friends and attending at least a couple of different parties here in our area. It should be a really fun time. We also have plans to take our annual ski trip to Mammoth with our friends Carrie and Dave. I am really excited about my new-found hobby of snowboarding. It's a nice change-up to skiing. Although I'm not tired of skiing by any stretch, snowboarding seems to be much more exciting for some reason. Probably the newness of it.
On behalf of my family and myself, we wish all of our family and friends the best of Christmases, and the happiest of new-years. See you in 2000!!!
