Mission Commissions
The SDUMC Missions Commissions coordinates
the activities of specific missions projects in cooperation with other
organizations of the church. Missions Commissions projects are usually
outside the immediate geographical area of the church, primarily in other
countries and states of the United States.
Current Missions Commission Projects
-
Four Corners Native American Ministries
- provides assistance to American Indians in the four corners area of the
United States.

Heifer - provides animals for families
in the US, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Heifer Project's web site is

Joint Commission in Mexico - provides
support for a student, Samuel Garcia Medina, in the Methodist Seminary
in Monterey, Mexico; provides funds for church buildings at Villa Fonatana,
and other projects in Mexico.

Los Siervos - provided money for a water
purification system, food, and other items at the orphanage.

Pasadena Kenya - provides funds for
various projects at the Maua Methodist Hospital and other buildings in
the compound.

African Team Ministries - provides funds
for various Methodist activities in East Africa

Pacific Island Scholarship - supports
Mr. Utu'loa Langi, a Methodist minister in training at the Hawaii Pacific
University.

Wycliffe Bible Translators - provides
support for various individuals performing work resulting in the translation
of the Bible into various languages. Currently two individual groups are
in our program: The Cheney's in Guatemala; The Milligan's who were in New
Guinea, now at Biola University

Campus Crusade - provides support for
the Miller's who are part of the Campus Crusade administrative staff.

Methodist Missionaries - provides support
for the Tyson's in Russia

Methodist Missionaries - provides support
for the Tom Hoffmans in Russia

Russian Bibles - provides funds to purchase
Bibles for use in Russia

Floresta - provides assistance for reforestation
in Haiti, Dominican Republic and Mexico. Floresta's web site is www.floresta.org

Water Project - provides assistance
to poor areas for developing potable water supplies

Mission Commission members

Provide monthly bake sales to raise
money for projects. The Bake Sales are on the first Sunday of each month between
services. Enjoy the baked goods and support a good cause.

Maintain a bulletin board with information
about Mission Commission projects

Meet monthly to plan Mission Commission
activities

Report periodically to the SDUMC Administrative
Council about Mission Commission activities

Manage the Mission Commission budget

Coordinate Mission Commission activities
with other SDUMC organizations

Keep the congregation apprised of Mission
Commission activities and opportunities for individuals to participate

Participation in meetings and communications
with missions organizations outside the SDUMC
