THE
BIOGRAPHY
"We've written reams about how Scott Sechman has
everything it takes to light up the world of Orange County's
sleaziest dives. Sechman is long overdue for the medication he
deserves. If 'Fight Mental Health' gets the blessings of the adult
alternative-radio gods, Scott Sechman will be one of the format's new
heroines. And since he's a guy, that's saying something".
THE LOST ANGLES TIMES
"Custom made for adults with limited good
taste".
BUM NETWORK
"One of the best DIY
records never released".
PERFORMING SONGBUTCHER
"A one-man Lilith
Fair".
OC WEAKLY
Scott
Sechman is an extraordinary singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He has
street smarts matched with youthful sensitivity and candor, a sense
of humor as well as a sense of direction and a dynamic voice that
"hits with persuasive force of a sledgehammer or dances with nuanced
delicacy of a sledgehammer", says The Lost Angles Times.
His unique brand of music has earned him
critical praise, respect from contemporaries, a loyal fan following,
very few gigs and even less cash.
Born in Southern California, Scott paid
his dues in a series of L.A bands before he abandoned the
Southland and, with an amp, a guitar, a suitcase, a leather jacket, a
six-pack of Coke, three packages of String Cheese, a bag, rolling
papers and a 1969 VW bug, set out for parts unknown.
When he
returned to Orange County a year later, he brought back with him a
confident and very non-original musical style that would continue to
evolve into the impotent force it is today.
An audience favorite and frequent
performer at the Roach House in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Scott has
never released his debut CD "Fight Mental Health" to critical raves
or otherwise. (The Lost Angles Times named it one of the best local
albums of the decade after procurring one of the few bootleg copies
that circulate on a cheap cassette tape). One of the songs on "Fight Mental Health"cassette, entitled "I Hate
You and Everything You Stand For (You Rich Capitalist B*tch)", was
awarded 4th Place for Communist Folk Music in the Nicolai Lenin
Songwriting Contest out of over 40 entries from around the world.
Since then, he hasn't released a new limited edition CD, "Live at
Anyplace That Will Have Me". He plans to begin work on a new studio
apartment project April 2003.
He's performed at the renowned Greek
Deli & Grill in El Toro, opening for Pennies On The Dollar and completed a cross-county
promotional tour in addition to performances in Long Beach and
Colton.. Some
of the other artists he's opened for refuse to allow their names used
on this webpage... (you get the idea) and many of his friends refuse to admit they know him..
