Girls Under 15 - 18 Small Sided Games Division
April 30, 2007
Dear Players, Parents and Coaches,
Last year the Vikings League expanded our fall recreational soccer program to include a combined U15 and U16 girls division (typically high school freshman and sophomores). Our objective is to provide recreational soccer players an opportunity to continue to play soccer. It seems unfortunate to us that the only option for girls in this age group to play fall soccer is to make a substantial time commitment to a traveling team. Any girl who does not join a traveling team has no opportunity to play soccer in the fall and is at a substantial disadvantage when high school tryouts occur in the winter or spring. We believe the division was a great success and are planning on organizing this division again this year.
In general we expect the division to be very similar to last year:
- We will likely play on Saturdays, generally Saturday afternoons, at the Paul Goode field in the Presidio.
- We will play either 6 aside or 7 aside soccer depending upon the total number of players. We anticipate a minimum of four teams of 9 – 12 players.
- Our season will start in the middle/end of September and go through the middle of November (about eight weeks).
- Players will sign up individually with the Vikings. Teams will be formed by the League and any parents who volunteer to help manage the teams/games. We will take into account the teammate preferences provided by the players in the online registration form. However, we cannot guarantee any particular team composition.
- Parent volunteers will be expected to manage the teams during their games.
- The teams will not be required or expected to practice, but the Vikings may offer optional practice sessions during the week for all players (combined from all teams).
The only major difference this year is that we plan to also include U17 and maybe U18 players in the division (high school juniors and seniors).
If you are interested in playing in this division, please fill out the online registration form at http://www.formsite.com/vikingleague/registrationU15up/index.html. Please register even if you aren’t 100% sure if you want to play or not. We will mail out individual registration forms in late August and ask that you return them to us by Sept 10th.
If you have any questions or comments, please e-mail us at sfviking@pacbell.net.
Best wishes,
Clay
