Angle variations on straight kris, sundang, Maranao. The more common angle for battle kris is shown in the lower Maranao sword. The arc and blade angle when the sword is wielded maximizes cutting and dragging of the edge in combat. The upper kris shown is a rarer form of the straight version. This particular blade is aligned straight with the hilt and has a slight saber like convex edge towards the tip end, the Moro warrior preferred thrust and cut swordfighting. The blade lengths on these two kris are approximately 24".
