John "Bert" Dumont started playing bass at 15 years old, jamming in his bedroom
with his older brother Tom (No Doubt). In 1992, he
moved to the San Francisco Bay Area,
bringing with him his band Salamander. That band played all over Bay Area until 1998,
including The Fillmore with the funky Meters!!
In 1997, he joined Baby Snufkin and toured 12 European countries as the opener for No Doubt.
Snufkin has since toured Europe 5 times.
John, or "Bert", joined Double Funk Crunch in 2000 and has since performed over 300 gigs with
the band. He also plays keyboards in DFC. Other projects include the hip-hop funk of Beat Doctor,
and the muppet rock of The Dead Hensons, in which he also sings and plays accordion.
John has been recording, mixing, producing and mastering different sessions since 1989.
Most recently John has been performing with San Francisco's Bing Ji Ling. He also has contributed
bass to new albums from Shifty (Maverick Records) and Matt Costa. Look out for a new track
from John, Scrote (Bundini Music) & Dr. Watch (Beat Doctor) featuring
Holly Palmer on vocals.
