• was probably related to the Williams family
• was possibly related to the Hardin family
• was possibly related to Benjamin Hobbs of Carroll County, Arkansas
• was the son of a man named Josiah who was born in Alabama
• married a woman known as Zina, Zinnia or Zinnie
• had siblings named Betty and Frank
• may have been named Samuel or Francis Marion Hobbs
