For
several years I've been interested in creating images that show
the subject from multiple angles. This image represents circular
perspective. The portrait of Dan and Janet Davies in front of
the fountain below the Space Needle in Seattle WA, leads the eye
in to a view from the Space Needle looking down on the same spot.
At the top of the Needle my face stares right back at you.
As
your eye looks to where the sky should be, you are looking down.
In essence making the photographer into the subject of the image,
I stare over at you as you stare at the photo. Dizzy yet?
Christmas
On The Moon
Family
photos have long been my offerings for Christmas. In 1996 I decided
to make a photo with real impact, so I put all of us on the moon
with earth in the background and a nebula coloring the sky. The
reactions were not as positive as I had hoped.
My favorite exercise is to escape the city
on my mountain bike. A park nearby provides numerous challenges.
This rocky trail was nearly impossible to ride, but I loved to
try. The trail has since been rerouted around this tough part.
Challenges are the most fun part of riding, it saddens me when
the trails are made too easy.
I found this redwood tree that had a burl
that resembled a perfect human profile. Here I've painted my face
onto it using Photoshop layers. The resemblance is uncanny.
Take a look at a photograph that I printed
by hand without help of a computer. The challenge was to
overcome parallax, showing a mountain range from a distance and
from climbing it in the same image.
